Job Description

The Department of Civil Engineering(CVE) in the College of Engineering at American University ofSharjah (AUS) invites applications for a regular or visiting faculty position at the assistant, associate or full professor level commencingin Fall Semester 2026. The successful candidate for the regular position will be expected to establish a high level, active research programsupported by internal and external funding sources. The visiting faculty position are primarily focused on teaching. The visiting positionis a one-year renewable contract and the regular position is a three-year renewable contract. The applicant is required to have a PhDin Civil Engineering or a closely related field and show evidence of a significant teaching portfolio. Excellence in teaching and research,in addition to experience in the American model of higher education, are highly desirable. Applicants for the regular position should be inthe specialty of construction engineering and management and/or digital construction. Applicants for the visiting position can be in anyspecialty within civil engineering. Applicants should fill out an application form and upload the required documents (PDF) using thefollowing link . Therequired documents are a cover letter and a detailed curriculum vitae (including a teaching statement, a research statement, a list ofcourses that can be taught or were taught, and names of at least three references who would be willing to write letters of recommendation.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. The Department of Civil Engineering has approximately 150 undergraduate students, 65graduate students, 15 full-time faculty and 2 lab instructors. Students and faculty represent very diverse backgrounds and nationalities;approximately 90 nationalities are present on campus. The department offers a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, a Bachelor ofScience in Digital Construction Engineering and Management, a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, a Master of Science in ConstructionManagement, and a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering. AUS is located in the Emirate of Sharjah (about 15 km from Dubai). AUSis an independent, not-for-profit, coeducational university, serving more than 5,700 students. AUS is licensed and its programs are accredited by theCommission for Academic Accreditation of the Ministry of Education's Higher Education Affairs Division in the United Arab Emirates.
