05/11/2023 Description The College of the Florida Keys is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach Accounting as a three-credit course at either the Key West Campus, the Upper Keys Center, or online. This position reports to the Director, Arts and Hospitality. Please note that online instructors must reside in the state of Florida or have the ability to perform their work within the State of Florida. Examples of Duties 1. Prepares, instructs, and grades all coursework and ensures the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures. 2. Effectively uses oral and written communication skills. 3. Maintains regularly scheduled hours to provide instruction for assigned class meeting times, dates, and locations. 4. Maintain records of student attendance. 5. Maintains timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities. 6. Keeps current in the programs being taught. 7. Assists in College recruitment and retention efforts, as appropriate. 8. Other related duties as assigned. (These essential job functions are not to be construed as a complete statement of all duties performed. Employees will be required to perform other job-related marginal duties as required.)
Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding of, and commitment to, Equal Access/Equal Opportunity. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of the College mission, policies, procedures, and services. Proficient in the use of technology. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to work effectively to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
Education and Qualifications:
Doctorate in Accounting or a Doctorate degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Accounting required. Ability to teach in person preferred. Prior teaching experience in higher education preferred. Experience using Canvas preferred. (A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the above minimum qualifications.)

Works in an office environment. If remote, online instructors must reside in the state of Florida or have the ability to perform their work within the state of Florida. Adjunct Instructors earn $543 - $727 per credit hour, based on degree level. Consult the 2024-25 Salary Schedule, available on the College's website, for additional information.
