Brockton, MA Job Details Part-time 19 hours ago Benefits 403(b) Qualifications Academic institution experience English University teaching experience English University experience Full Job Description Fisher College, a private 4-year institution located in the Back Bay section of Boston is seeking one (01) adjunct instructor to teach a English II class for the Fall 2026 semester. The HEN102 English course requires 01 lecture, and 2 lab sessions, and it will be taught from August 17, 2026, through December 11, 2026 (please note that the College will observe Thanksgiving Break during the entire week of November 23rd). Additional time is required for training, course prep, grading, and student communications.
Overview and Responsibilities:
In this course students apply critical reading, writing, and critical thinking skills to analyze and develop ideas in written and oral forms. Through interdisciplinary reading assignments, a series of papers, a research paper, and an oral presentation, students will evaluate and formulate their own arguments in response to ideas presented in class. In addition, students will continue to develop their research techniques and their abilities to understand the mechanics of good writing.
Learning Objectives:
This course will provide students with the opportunity to: Synthesize primary and secondary texts in support of a thesis. Evaluate arguments, including tone, logic, and sufficient evidence. Formulate arguments with support from primary and secondary sources. Utilize library resources including databases and the Internet. Write a research paper. Deliver an oral presentation. Achievement of learning outcomes will be contingent on student effort, ability. All classes and labs are in person Thursday or Friday 9:00am - 12:00pm
Qualifications:
Minimum of a master's degree in English or related field One or more year of college level English teaching experience Knowledge of Canvas preferred.
