Job Description

Great Falls College, a growing two-year campus in Great Falls, Montana, seeks a full-time Writing Faculty member to join the Writing and Languages Department beginning Fall 2026. As a full-time faculty member, you will belong to an organization that values writing as a practical and transferable skill that supports academic success, workforce readiness, and lifelong learning. The successful candidate will teach primarily first-year composition in 8‑week blocks using on‑campus, asynchronous online, and blended formats. Additional teaching opportunities may include literature, technical writing, business communication, and related courses supporting general education, transfer, and workforce programs. Instruction should help students develop strong writing skills for diverse audiences and purposes, emphasizing clarity, organization, and effective use of information. Faculty work collaboratively to support curriculum development, assessment, scheduling, and student success initiatives. Active participation in departmental and campus life is an essential component of this on-campus position. Therefore, candidates must reside in or relocate to the Great Falls, Montana, area by the start date. This is a 9-month position with optional summer teaching based on enrollment and departmental priorities. Teaching assignments may occasionally include evening courses or other times that best meet student needs.

Duties and Responsibilities Teaching courses relevant to the Montana University System General Education Core and related coursework certificates, applied associate degrees, and associate degrees. Teaching courses using traditional and alternative delivery systems Adjusting to a variety of teaching situations, including a wide range of student preparedness Committing to a focus on student success Participating in college committees and activities Participating in student learning outcomes assessment Pursuing tenure per the college's tenure process Collaborating with colleagues, within the department and across campus. Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Master's degree in English, composition, or closely related field OR Master's degree plus 9 graduate credits in English, composition, or closely related field Experience in course development and teaching at a post-secondary level Demonstrated commitment to student success and ability to relate well to diverse students Ability to use computers and instructional technology Effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work positively with teams and individuals with diverse backgrounds Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Teaching experience at a two-year college Experience teaching College Composition I Online teaching experience Experience teaching in a compressed or accelerated non-standard semester schedule
