Job Description:
The Humanities & Social Sciences Department at Onondaga Community College is currently inviting applications from qualified applicants to teach American Sign Language I (ASL 101) and American Sign Language II (ASL 102).
Requirements:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should demonstrate fluent and accurate command of American Sign Language as well as knowledge of culture and language pedagogy. Master's degree in ASL or a Master's degree in a related field with 18 credits in ASL.
For native speakers:
Bachelor's degree in ASL or a related field with 18 credits in ASL. (Mentoring will also be required for those not having the Master's degree.)
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Preference will be given to those with experience teaching at a community college.
Additional Information:
Adjunct rate of pay for the 26/27 academic year is $1,527/credit hour. Classes will be assigned on an as needed basis dependent upon enrollment. Adjuncts are eligible to participate in the NYS Teacher's Retirement System.
