The Westchester Educational Opportunity Center (WEOC), a division of Westchester Community College, is seeking experienced, energetic, innovative, results oriented professionals to join its team. Located in Yonkers, NY, this non-traditional adult education institution provides tuition-free academic and vocational training to eligible underserved adults seeking to develop basic academic and vocational skills competencies and credentials needed for enrollment in college and/or entry into the workforce. Seeking energetic and engaging Adjunct Faculty to teach English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). The incumbent will provide classroom instruction in English literacy to non-native adults through a standards-based integrated program that prepares adults for work and academic success. Successful candidates must demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of a diverse population and have the ability to teach speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary in an academic, civics, and work context. Candidates must work effectively with students who have barriers to employment and education. Classes may be offered day or evening.Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate must possess a minimum of a Master's Degree in a related field from a recognized college or university and one year of practical experience. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication and presentation skills are required. The successful candidate will have the ability to establish a rapport with students and maintain an environment that supports learning and promotes student retention. Experience using an LMS is also required.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
TESOL Certification is preferred. Experience teaching adult learners and at-risk populations is strongly preferred. Highly organized and detail-oriented candidates are also strongly preferred.Additional Information:
SALARY & BENEFITS
The hourly rate of pay is $93.84. No benefits. This position is fully grant funded.POSITION EFFECTIVE
