Position Summary:
A-State invites applications for qualified, experienced adjunct teaching faculty. Adjunct Instructors are hired to teach on a per course basis. Each academic term may present the need to hire new or additional Adjunct Instructors.. This position may require day, evening, face to face or online instruction. This position is part-time and as an adjunct will be limited to teaching a maximum of 9 hours at all system campuses. Under general supervision, Adjuncts will plan and implement curriculum for assigned course(s); effectively communicate class content to students in an online or face to face environment; evaluate students' progress in attaining goals, objectives, and student learning outcomes; assist in retention efforts
Duties & Responsibilities:
Adjunct Instructor in German (Online) - Fall 2026 Department of English, Philosophy, and World Languages Arkansas State University The Department of English, Philosophy, and World Languages at Arkansas State University invites applications for an adjunct instructor position in German, beginning Fall 2026. This is an online, part-time position with a teaching load of two courses per semester. Responsibilities The successful candidate will teach undergraduate German language courses at the elementary and intermediate level (German I-IV) in an asynchronous online format, depending on departmental need and enrollment. Responsibilities include course design and delivery, student assessment, timely communication with students, and coordination with the department as needed.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Demonstrates an understanding of educational theory, instructional methods and evaluation technique and use of technology utilized in higher education in a classroom setting. Demonstrates analytical and organizational skills necessary to plan, implement and evaluate educational activities to assure compliance with established goals and objectives. Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, necessary to interact effectively with all university constituents.

Please note: All position postings close at 12:00 am CST on the position closing date. This position has been identified as a telecommuting position. The duties are performed during standard work hours of 8am-5pm at a predefined and approved work location. Individuals filling this role must have dedicated work space that provides privacy and security related to the work being performed. Minimum Qualifications:
Academic and professional teaching experience within the teaching content.
Required:
Native or near-native fluency in German. Prior experience teaching in an online environment. MA in German, Applied Linguistics, Foreign Language Education, or a closely related field. Successful candidates will have a Master's Degree or higher in the discipline or related field or a Masters with 18 graduate semester hours in the subject taught; doctoral degree preferred.
