Job Summary The University of Texas at Tyler, a dynamic and growing institution committed to fostering academic excellence and teaching innovation, invites applications for a one-year position of Lecturer. This position is for the Fall 2026-Spring 2027 academic year. The Search Committee will begin reviewing applications on Monday, May 4. The position will remain open until filled. Key Responsibilities Teach developmental English and / or first-year writing courses Some possibility of a section of business & technical writing or literature survey Collaborate with the Coordinator of Developmental English, Composition Committee Chair, and Department Chair on curriculum development and assessment Respond to and communicate with students, colleagues, and the department chair in a timely fashion Maintain regular on-campus presence Attend departmental meetings Required Qualifications MA or PhD in English or Rhetoric & Composition Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence Experience in teaching one of the following: developmental writing or first-year composition Experience in teaching in different modalities (face-to-face and online) preferred Experience with the ethical integration of AI into courses Proven ability in building trust through collaborative decision-making, embracing shared governance, and integrating with the community Other Information About The University of Texas at Tyler The University of Texas at Tyler is part of the prestigious University of Texas System that includes 14 institutions located throughout the state. Additional Information The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code Section 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information.
