The English Language Learner (ELL) teacher provides English language development instruction to children who are acquiring English as an additional language, working collaboratively with other instructional personnel, including a district-wide team of ELL teachers, to meet the individual needs of each child

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
generally include the following.

Identify students eligible for ELL Targeted and Integrated Instruction Collaborates with classroom teachers and specialists to ensure achievement of ELLs across content areas Assists school literacy team in analyzing and determining literacy needs specific to school staff and student population Assists teachers in the use of assessment data Administer initial language proficiency diagnostics (e.g., AZELLA) and use formative/summative assessments to track language growth and academic progress Collaborates with administrators and staff to further school-wide goals Plans and delivers lessons in English language development Deliver structured English language development (ELD) lessons through pull-out, push-in, or inclusion models tailored to student proficiency levels Assists with the planning and evaluation of Integrated and targeted instruction Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate with classroom teachers, administration and families. Adapts to a flexible work schedule Attends district ELL meetings and professional development offerings Performs other duties as assigned or required
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, policies and procedures Knowledge of applicable Peoria Unified School District and departmental policies and procedures Instructional expertise in AZELLA Ability to effectively manage and supervise students and their work. Ability to direct the work of other staff members Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students,parents, the general public and others having business with the school district Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must hold a current teaching certificate issued by the Arizona Department of Education Three years of successful teaching experience preferred
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must hold or obtain an IVP fingerprint clearance card Must be able to pass a background clearance check May be required to work outside normal working hours May be required to travel to perform work functions
