Our secondary program offers a rich, humanities-driven curriculum in a close-knit community where teachers are empowered to bring their passions into the classroom. Position Summary Green Fields School is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Secondary English Teacher to join our secondary faculty for the 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time, on-site position involves teaching English Language Arts to students in grades 6-12, with an emphasis on critical reading, analytical writing, and authentic storytelling. Candidates with a background in theater, drama, or performance are strongly preferred. We believe that theatrical skills, including oral communication, close reading of texts, narrative analysis, and creative interpretation, deepen literary study and bring English Language Arts to life. The ideal candidate will find natural and meaningful ways to integrate performance and theatrical thinking into the English curriculum. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned English Language Arts instruction for secondary students (grades 6-12) Design curriculum units that develop skills in reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking Integrate drama, performance, and oral communication elements into literary study and writing instruction where appropriate Foster a classroom environment that encourages student voice, creativity, and intellectual risk-taking Provide timely, constructive feedback on student writing and assessments Collaborate with secondary faculty on interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives Communicate proactively with students, families, and school leadership regarding student progress Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and campus events Contribute to the broader school community through extracurricular involvement, such as a drama club, school play, or literary magazine (highly encouraged but not required)
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Literature, Theater, or a related field Demonstrated experience teaching English or Language Arts at the secondary level Strong command of English literature, composition, and writing instruction Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs Professional, collaborative, and student-centered approach to teaching
Preferred:
