The teacher creates engaging learning experiences that foster a love of reading, critical thinking, communication, and academic achievement while creating a classroom culture where all students feel valued and supported. This role integrates culturally responsive teaching practices and promotes both academic achievement and social-emotional growth. In collaboration with the leadership team and Curriculum Coordinator, the teacher aligns instruction with California English Language Arts Standards and district priorities and contributes to student success across grade levels. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based English Language Arts instruction for TK-8 students.
  • Collaborate with the Curriculum Coordinator to develop lessons that promote literacy development through reading, writing, speaking, listening, vocabulary acquisition, language conventions, and critical thinking.
  • Foster a classroom environment that encourages a love of reading, effective communication, creativity, and intellectual curiosity.
  • Teach students to analyze literature and informational texts, evaluate evidence, conduct research, and develop well-supported written and oral responses.
  • Support students in developing foundational literacy skills, reading comprehension, writing proficiency, grammar, vocabulary, and academic language.
  • Collaborate with the principal and staff to align curriculum and instruction with district goals.
  • Assess student learning regularly using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods.
  • Use data to inform instruction and differentiate learning to meet the needs of all students, including English learners and students with diverse learning needs.
  • Integrate technology, research skills, and digital literacy into ELA instruction.
  • Build strong relationships with students, staff, and families to support student success.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities via ParentSquare.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff; participate in meetings, professional development, and school events as appropriate for the role.
  • Maintain organized records of student progress and instructional materials.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Multiple Subject Teaching Credential
  • General Subjects OR Single Subject Teaching Credential
  • English, English Language Arts, or a related field (required).
  • One (1) year of experience teaching elementary and/or middle school English Language Arts (preferred).
  • Certification in CPR that meets the standards established by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
  • Clear Live Scan Background Check and negative TB test.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience developing literacy-rich, project-based, and interdisciplinary learning experiences.
  • Knowledge of California English Language Arts/English Language Development (ELA/ELD) Framework and Standards.
  • Experience implementing evidence-based reading and writing instruction.
  • Experience supporting English learners and students with diverse academic needs.
  • Experience integrating literacy, technology, and research skills into instruction.
  • Experience working in a TK-8 or charter school setting.
