The advanced placement English literature course prepares seniors for the advanced placement exam in May. The focus of this course is to engage students in close reading and critical analysis of a variety of texts and to develop college level writing skills. The course will use the approved state curriculum as well as a variety of outside reading assignments that broaden students' experience and repertoire with different genres of literature. The selected candidate will be required to; 1. Teach subject area according to state curriculum standards. 2. Work collaboratively with a team of other faculty members. 3. Implement curriculum and deliver instruction in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of New Designs Charter School. 4. Participates in professional development and pursue further education in the academic discipline being taught. 5. Follows all rules, regulations and guidelines as provided for in the school's charter and other policy documents. 6. Maintain discipline in the classroom and during any school activity. 7. Provide a nurturing environment for all students to succeed. 8. Teach the AP English curriculum and help students to pass in the AP exam 9. Perform any other functions as may be assigned by the principal as specified in the employment contract.
