The ideal candidate is nurturing, organized, and enthusiastic about teaching young learners while maintaining clear expectations and strong classroom structure. We are looking for an educator who possesses excellent classroom management skills and is both firm and kind — someone who can create a calm, respectful, and joyful learning environment where students feel supported, challenged, and encouraged to grow. The ideal candidate also enjoys incorporating hands-on, project-inspired learning experiences that make reading, writing, and language arts engaging, interactive, and meaningful for young students.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach foundational ELA skills including grammar, spelling, handwriting, reading comprehension, and writing Provide strong instruction in traditional grammar and sentence structure Help students develop confidence and fluency in reading and written communication Make creative writing engaging and fun through storytelling, poetry, imaginative prompts, and hands-on activities Incorporate creative, hands-on projects that support literacy development and student engagement Foster a positive classroom culture built on consistency, kindness, and mutual respect Encourage curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and students
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
Experience teaching elementary-aged students, preferably 2nd and/or 3rd grade Strong classroom management skills Ability to balance warmth and kindness with structure and accountability Experience teaching traditional grammar, spelling, and writing fundamentals Passion for helping students become confident readers and writers Creative, organized, and collaborative teaching style Ability to make learning engaging, interactive, and developmentally appropriate This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact during an important stage of literacy and personal development. Pay:
$32.00 - $35.00 per hour
