The teacher integrates Catholic values and teachings throughout the curriculum while fostering a classroom culture of respect, responsibility, and a love of learning. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInstructional Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging Language Arts instruction aligned with state standards and school curriculum. Teach reading comprehension, literature analysis, vocabulary development, grammar, writing, research skills, and oral communication. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology tools, and assessment methods to promote student growth. Develop and implement lessons that encourage critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication. Provide timely and constructive feedback on student work. Maintain accurate records of student achievement and progress. Catholic Identity and Faith Formation Support and uphold the mission, philosophy, and teachings of the Catholic Church. Integrate Catholic values and Gospel teachings into daily instruction and classroom interactions. Participate in school liturgies, prayer services, retreats, and faith-based activities. Model Christian behavior and serve as a positive role model for students. Classroom Management Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and orderly classroom environment. Implement school-wide discipline policies consistently and fairly. Foster student responsibility, accountability, and self-discipline. Promote a culture of inclusion, kindness, and mutual respect. Communication and Collaboration Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and academic concerns. Collaborate with colleagues, intervention specialists, and administration to support student success. Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional learning communities, and school events. Work collaboratively with teachers across grade levels and subject areas to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities. Assessment and Student Support Monitor student performance and use data to inform instruction. Identify students who may need academic intervention or enrichment and collaborate on appropriate supports. Prepare report cards, progress reports, and other required documentation. Participate in parent-teacher conferences and student support meetings. Professional Responsibilities Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, conduct, and communication. Maintain confidentiality regarding student and family information. Pursue ongoing professional development and growth. Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the principal. QualificationsRequired Bachelor's degree in English, Language Arts, Education, or a related field. Valid state teaching license or ability to obtain licensure. Knowledge of middle school curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment practices. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education. Preferred Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church. Previous middle school teaching experience. Experience integrating technology into instruction. Experience working in a Catholic school environment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to inspire a love of reading and writing in adolescents. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Commitment to academic excellence and faith formation. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a school community. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry instructional materials up to 25 pounds. Ability to supervise students in various school settings.
