Wintergreen was recognized by Magnet Schools of America and is committed to providing students with an engaging educational experience rooted in arts integration, restorative practices, and academic excellence. As part of our departmentalized fifth-grade team, the English Language Arts Teacher will cultivate strong readers, writers, speakers, and critical thinkers. The successful candidate will engage students in rich literacy experiences that foster a love of reading, strengthen communication skills, and promote thoughtful analysis of diverse texts. Grade-level teachers collaborate closely to create meaningful, interdisciplinary learning experiences that support student growth and achievement. Candidates with experience or interest in arts integration, project-based learning, social-emotional learning, and literacy instruction are encouraged to apply.

Demonstrates strong knowledge of literacy instruction, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening standards. Creates an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that fosters a love of learning and literacy. Uses data to inform instruction and support student growth. Differentiates instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Provides students with authentic opportunities to write, communicate, collaborate, and think critically. Implements restorative practices to build positive relationships and foster a strong classroom community. Collaborates effectively with grade-level colleagues, specialists, and families to support student success. Demonstrates a commitment to educating the whole child. Endorsement, Education, and Experience Requirements Successful candidates must possess strong instructional practices, excellent classroom management skills, and a commitment to student achievement. Experience teaching upper elementary literacy and supporting diverse learners is preferred. Connecticut State Certification 305 (Elementary Education) or other appropriate Connecticut certification required.
