Job Description

Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate English Teacher to join our team at Stratford High School. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop a love for literature and language, fostering critical thinking and effective communication skills. This full-time position offers an opportunity to engage with a diverse student body and contribute to a supportive educational environment. Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and cater to various learning styles.
  • Teach English language arts, including reading, writing, grammar, and literature, to students in grades 9-12.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, and standardized tests, providing constructive feedback to support academic growth.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the English curriculum and participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Organize and participate in extracurricular activities related to English. Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification or license in English language arts for secondary education.
  • Proven experience teaching English at the high school level is highly desirable but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of literature, writing techniques, and language arts pedagogy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students and foster a supportive learning environment.
  • Proficiency in using technology and digital resources to enhance instruction and engage students.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for teaching and learning.
