High School Humanities Teacher The Academy at The PARC - Sebring, FL The Academy at The PARC is seeking a passionate and engaging High School Humanities Teacher to cultivate a classroom culture that promotes intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, respectful discourse, personal responsibility, and active engagement. Job responsibilities Develop and deliver daily Main Lesson blocks and humanities courses for high school students that are age-appropriate, academically rigorous, interdisciplinary, and thoroughly prepared. Instruction should integrate history, literature, philosophy, civics, writing, cultural studies, and related humanities disciplines while aligning with the Academy's academic expectations, instructional model, and mission. Maintain high expectations for student conduct, academic effort, and quality of work Lead students through the study of great ideas, primary source documents, significant historical events, influential literature, biographies, and cultural movements. Encourage students to analyze, discuss, question, and form independent conclusions while developing strong communication and reasoning skills. Facilitate meaningful discussions, seminars, debates, presentations, research projects, and written assignments. Support students in developing clear thinking, effective writing, public speaking skills, and intellectual confidence. Support the development of each student through consistent expectations, effective classroom management, mentorship, and respectful discipline. Work in partnership with families and communicate concerns early, directly, and professionally. Collaborate reliably and constructively with fellow faculty members, visiting instructors, and specialty teachers. Contribute to shared planning, support interdisciplinary learning opportunities, and remain accountable to the effectiveness of the full instructional program, not only individual courses. Maintain accurate daily attendance records and communicate promptly with school administration regarding concerns related to student absences, attendance patterns, academic performance, or student well-being. Responsiveness and reliability in student supervision are required. Maintain thorough documentation of student learning. Provide letter grades and write comprehensive narrative evaluations for each student. Submit block reports, quarterly reports, and other required academic records on time and with appropriate detail and follow- through. Communicate clearly, directly, respectfully, and promptly with parents, colleagues, and the wider school community. Direct communication protects relationships and supports alignment between home and school. Participate in all faculty meetings, school festivals, student exhibitions, presentations, field studies, and calendared events as an active and dependable member of the Academy's teaching community. Faculty are expected to contribute positively to team culture and support school-wide success. Participate in professional development opportunities during the school year and attend the summer teacher development held June 8th through June 12th, 2026. Employees are expected to remain coachable, curious, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement. Prepare classroom environments, course materials, assessments, and instructional resources in advance. Manage time intentionally, maintain organized instructional systems, and support smooth classroom operations each day. Summer classroom preparation is required. Summer lesson planning and participation in mentorship is required. Communication as needed regarding summer lesson planning with the Principal is expected. Maintain a positive and professional attitude in the classroom and among colleagues. Reliability, accountability to the team, and persistence in completing responsibilities are required expectations of this role.
Zero Tolerance Policy:
The Academy at the PARC maintains a zero-tolerance policy for gossip, toxic communication, or actions that undermine the health of the school community. All employees are expected to speak directly, truthfully, and kindly. If an employee finds themselves being pulled into negativity or inappropriate conversations, they are expected to respond in a way that protects the collegial fabric of the faculty and cohesion of the team. This means redirecting concerns to appropriate channels — typically redirecting concerns to administration. Work Schedule & Agreement Employee start date Monday July 27th, 2026. Work Hours:
Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-3:30 PM. Faculty meetings are held once a week from 3:30-5:30 PM. Attendance at all school events (festivals, parent nights, etc.) is required unless otherwise discussed in advance. There are 180 contact days with summer preperation for the upcoming school year. Compensation $45,000 to $55,000 depending on experience. Benefits Paid Time Off:
