High School English Language Arts (ELA)
Teacher Position Overview:
Pinecrest Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated High School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop strong reading, writing, and critical thinking skills while fostering a love of literature. This teacher will deliver standards-aligned instruction and create a classroom environment that encourages student engagement, collaboration, and academic growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver high school ELA instruction aligned to Florida's B.E.S.T. Standards Develop lessons that strengthen reading comprehension, literary analysis, writing, and vocabulary skills Use assessment data to guide instruction and differentiate for diverse learners Create a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes engagement and accountability Integrate technology, collaborative projects, and writing workshops to enhance learning Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress Collaborate with colleagues during Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to improve instructional practices Maintain accurate records and comply with all school, district, and state requirements Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and extracurricular activities
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field Valid Florida Teaching Certificate (or eligibility) in English/Language Arts (Grades 6-12) Knowledge of Florida standards and state assessment expectations Strong classroom management and organizational skills Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching high school English, including AP or honors courses ESOL endorsement or Reading Endorsement Experience with project-based learning, literary analysis, and differentiated instruction
