Full-Time Position Summary The High School ELA Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that promotes literacy, critical thinking, and effective communication. The teacher will create a supportive learning environment where students develop strong reading comprehension, analytical writing, research, and presentation skills while preparing for state assessments and post-secondary opportunities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging English Language Arts instruction aligned with Florida B.E.S.T. Standards. Teach literature, composition, grammar, vocabulary, research, and public speaking skills. Develop students' analytical reading, argumentative writing, and critical thinking abilities through diverse literary and informational texts. Differentiate instruction to meet the academic needs of all learners. Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instructional planning. Prepare students for state assessments, graduation requirements, and college and career readiness. Foster a classroom environment that encourages intellectual curiosity, respectful discussion, and academic excellence. Integrate instructional technology and digital literacy resources into classroom instruction. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student achievement and classroom expectations. Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to enhance instructional practices and student outcomes. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and other assigned responsibilities. Uphold school policies while maintaining high expectations for student achievement, behavior, and professionalism. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field. Valid Florida Educator Certificate or eligibility for certification. Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills. Passion for teaching and mentoring high school students. Commitment to fostering academic excellence and student growth. Preferred Qualifications Certification in English 6-12. Previous experience teaching high school English Language Arts. Knowledge of Florida B.E.S.T. Standards and college and career readiness initiatives. Experience integrating instructional technology and data-driven instructional practices. Ability to support students in developing advanced reading, writing, and research skills.
Salary:
Follows Palm Beach County School District salary scale and referendum.
