Position Summary:
Liberal Public Schools is seeking a passionate, student-centered English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to join our team. Teach reading, writing, speaking, listening, language, and vocabulary skills using research-based instructional practices. Foster critical thinking through literature analysis, informational text, writing, discussion, and inquiry-based learning. Create a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and academic growth. Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social, emotional, and developmental needs of all learners. Utilize instructional technology to enhance student learning and communication. Monitor student progress through formal and informal assessments and use data to guide instructional decisions. Maintain accurate student records, grades, attendance, and required documentation. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations. Collaborate with grade-level teams, interventionists, special education staff, instructional coaches, and administrators to support student success. Foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues while promoting a culture of respect, responsibility, and high expectations. Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional times. Participate in faculty meetings, Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), professional development, and school improvement initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Valid Kansas Teaching License. Demonstrated successful classroom teaching experience. Strong knowledge of curriculum, assessment, and instructional practices. Excellent communication, collaboration, organization, and leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education or related field. Experience as a teacher leader or instructional coach. Knowledge of the Literacy First Framework. Experience facilitating professional development. Experience using student achievement data to improve instruction. ESOL Endorsement preferred ($500 annual stipend for Kansas ESOL licensed employees). Physical Requirements The employee must be able to move throughout the school building, stand, walk, bend, reach, and occasionally lift instructional materials.
