Job Description

PART TIME UPPER SCHOOL ENGLISH TEACHER
Sayre School is seeking a highly motivated and qualified part-time English teacher who desires a professional and fun working environment dedicated to student growth and achievement. Job responsibilities and opportunities include:
Teaching English elective classes with a significant focus on writing and revision. Preparing students for the complex, iterative writing process across disciplines. Following English department curriculum guidance and Upper School directives. Being accessible to students outside of class via email and limited office hours on campus. The Upper School English Department aims to cultivate curiosity as we guide students to read responsibly, write to discover, and tailor their communication to authentic audiences. We seek a part-time instructor to teach 1-2 elective courses per semester that will earn the writing credit required for Sayre graduation. Recent electives have included Mythology, Science Fiction & Fantasy Literature, and various topics in Creative Writing, and we welcome proposals for these topics or for other semester-long courses aimed at a mix of 10th-12th grade learners. Electives should include active, in-class learning, minimal homework, and a sustained focus on the drafting, writing, and revision process. See the Upper School Schedule .
