Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate High School English Teacher to join our team at Elliott County High School. The ideal candidate will foster a love of literature and language while promoting critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication skills among students. This full-time position requires a commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment that supports the diverse needs of high school learners. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive English curriculum aligned with state standards and school objectives. Create lesson plans that incorporate a variety of instructional strategies, including discussions, group work, and technology integration. Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, tests, and projects, providing constructive feedback to support student growth. Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and respect. Support students in developing their reading, writing, and analytical skills through diverse literary works and writing assignments. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance interdisciplinary learning and contribute to school-wide initiatives. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and trends in English education. Supervise and mentor students in extracurricular activities. Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment conducive to learning. Requirements Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid teaching certification in English for high school levels. Proven experience teaching English at the high school level, with a strong understanding of literature, composition, and language arts pedagogy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, parents, and colleagues. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. Proficiency in using educational technology and digital resources to enhance instruction. A passion for literature and a desire to inspire students to become lifelong learners and critical thinkers.
