Job Description

GEO Prep Mid-City, Inc. is a tuition-free, public charter school that serves students in grades K-8. Our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to providing an outstanding education for students each day as they transition from elementary to middle school to high school and COLLEGE. Our curriculum and teaching methods are designed using Core Knowledge in K-8 and a blended learning model in elementary school through high school. We are a TAP school!
REPORTS TO/TERM
Principal and Administrative Team This is a 10-month position.
ESSENTIAL KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A ELA/ Keyboarding Teacher is required to perform the following duties: Monitor implementation of Louisiana ELA standards, curriculum, and intervention programs through regular classroom observations. Support curriculum implementation through lesson planning, modeling, co-teaching, coaching, and professional development. Attend leadership, cluster, grade-level, staff, and data meetings related to ELA instruction and student achievement. Plan and deliver blended learning instruction in English Language Arts and Computer Skills/Keyboarding aligned to state standards. Participate in all TAP requirements, with a focus on data-driven instruction and continuous improvement. Create an engaging learning environment that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and academic growth. Prepare students for academic success and proficiency on state and local assessments. Assess student progress regularly, maintain accurate data, and provide timely feedback to students and parents. Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress, performance, and classroom expectations. Collaborate with Special Education staff and administrators to support the needs of all learners. Establish and maintain effective classroom management procedures and student behavior expectations. Accept and implement feedback and coaching from administrators and instructional leaders. Perform assigned supervisory duties, including morning, lunch, dismissal, and after-school responsibilities. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor's degree or higher with at least 24 credit hours in content area Valid Louisiana Teaching License for Grades K-8 (preferred) Strong technical skills, particularly in integrating technology in the classroom to drive academic achievement Demonstrated volunteer or community service At least one (or more) of the following: National Board Certification TAP Experience (sign on bonus for TAP certification) Core Knowledge Experience Experience with Blended Learning At least two years of successful teaching in an urban environment
