About Young Audiences Charter Schools Young Audiences Charter Schools (YACS) offers a unique and highly desired arts-integrated model that seamlessly aligns with the identity of the Greater New Orleans Area. With multiple schools in New Orleans and Jefferson Parish, YACS works arduously to achieve its mission of educating the whole child through arts integration and equipping all creative learners to flourish as leaders in life and learning. YACS Creative Learners from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade are provided with appropriate arts-integrated learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Who is a Creative Educator? YACS Creative Educators educators work collaboratively to develop sound instructional strategies rooted in the foundations of arts integration. With a dedicated focus on improving student outcomes, our school-level and network-level leadership is committed to supporting teachers in becoming transformative educators. YACS is a family of Creative Educators committed to "Academic Excellence with an Artistic Edge". Reporting to the Principal and/or Assistant Principal the Master Teacher supports the Principal and Assistant Principal in his/her leadership of the school's academic program. While the exact responsibilities of this position may vary based on placement ( i.e. Lower, Middle, High School), the Master Teacher works to achieve the academic priorities of the school in their concentration.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership Serve as the model teacher for your subject area on your campus. Teach a full load of classes. Plan and implement the HQIM with fidelity. Fully participate in all professional learning opportunities on campus including cluster, common planning, and data/student work analysis. Allow other teachers to observe your classroom as needed. Share strategies, materials, and other resources with teachers. Provide formal observation and coaching for teachers in your content area. Prepare and deliver weekly clusters (PLCs) for your content area with support from the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning and your campus leadership team. Field test strategies for cluster (PLCs) prior to implementation. Participate in campus instructional leadership team meetings. Communicates the school's vision and goals, setting strategies to achieve goals, regularly reviewing progress, and adapting as needed Collaborate and lead interim assessment data dives Work to ensure that each child is progressing at least one grade level or below proficient to proficient or reaching ambitious targets for school wide levels of proficiency/mastery; Plan units and lessons with teachers or groups of teachers and provide feedback on lessons, units, and assessments; Fosters a relationship of support and collaboration across the school. Works with the principal and other leadership team members to identify the school's needs, research and identify educational strategies that will meet the specific needs of the particular school, implements the strategies, and provides ongoing evaluation and feedback, to enable immediate adjustments, as necessary, to ensure teacher and student success. Oversees record keeping for academic priorities as defined by the principal, including efforts to track individual student needs, support teacher development, monitor student progress, implement special programs and track progress towards school level academic goals. Serves as a resource to the principal in achieving academic growth targets. Studies emerging research that strengthens the implementation of the curriculum and develops training and support tools that incorporate appropriate new learning. Performs other duties as assigned. Communication Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents, leadership, and other colleagues. Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members. Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. Professional Conduct and Other Exhibit professional judgment and responsibility at all times. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible. Participate in assigned morning, lunch, and afternoon duties. Follow attendance policy as assigned by the supervisor. Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Administration and/or supervisor. Attend and participate in faculty meetings, school events, and serve on staff committees as required. ELA, Math, Science or Social Studies Required Qualifications :
Love and appreciation for the arts and arts education Three years of successful teaching experience in the content area. A thorough understanding of the standards and assessment guidelines for your content area/grade band. Experience meeting the needs of diverse learners. Knowledge of best practices for your content area and grade level of students. Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes as measured on a high-stakes assessment
Desired Qualifications:
Previous experience coaching teachers and/or leading professional learning. A thorough understanding of the HQIM used by our charter network for your content area/grade band. Louisiana Teacher Certification or out of state teacher certification for your content area/grade band. Bachelor's degree (required) Master's degree (preferred) 3+ Years of Teaching Experience (preferred) Salary and Benefits Salary is highly competitive and commensurate with experience.
