POSITION
Grade 6 English Teacher The Arlington Public Schools are accepting applications from applicants interested in teaching Grade 6 English at the Gibbs School. Candidates must hold appropriate licensure for the position and demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and learning. The successful candidate will be a collaborative professional who works effectively with department colleagues, grade-level teams, special educators, and support staff to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment for all students. The Grade 6 English Teacher will deliver high-quality instruction in reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking aligned to district curriculum standards. Strong candidates will use a variety of instructional practices to engage learners, differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs, and foster a classroom culture that supports student voice, academic growth, and meaningful discourse. Teachers are expected to use assessment data to inform instruction and provide appropriate scaffolds, supports, and enrichment opportunities for students. Director of English and Building Principal Salary and Benefits are consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Arlington School Committee and the Arlington Education Association. The Salary Schedule is on our website. Salary placement is based on Education and Experience. Arlington has a well-established new teacher induction program with mentoring throughout the school year. The first official work day in the 2026-2027 school year will be August 31, 2026. However, new staff are required to attend several days of orientation and training during the last two weeks of August.
