Salary:
As per FEA Teacher Contract This position does not qualify for town benefits, including Health Insurance
General Description:
Provides English Language instruction for limited English proficient students that aligns with four domains: speaking, listening, reading and writing
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrates knowledge of English Learner Education (ELE) instruction Develops curricula and designs instruction based upon the Massachusetts English Language Proficiency Benchmarks and Outcomes. Maintains currency on methods, trends and materials in ELE instruction. Supports sheltered English immersion classroom teachers. Follows all policies and procedures as outlined in the district ELE Handbook. Meets monthly with ELE department Attends one building faculty meeting per month. Participates in professional and educational activities that will enhance professional growth. Collaborates with the ELE Coordinator to plan professional development offerings for General education teachers. Collaborates with the ELE department to update the ELL Handbook Maintains communication with principals, ELE personnel, regarding ELE activities (assessment, professional development, program/materials adoption, student needs) Assumes responsibility for all additional professional duties as may be assigned by the Building Principal and /or Director of English Language Education program.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's degree and Massachusetts ESL Certification Educational training beyond the Bachelor's degree with prior teaching experience preferred Excellent communication skills\ Ability to work cooperatively with students, staff, and administrators Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and dependability Must successfully pass Criminal Offender (CORI) background check and national fingerprinting screening (CHRI)
