Candidates should have a detailed understanding of effective methods and a strong knowledgeof pedagogy for the English classroom that include the writing process, reader response, and a flexible repertoire for assessing skills that incorporates performance-based assessments. Candidates should have a growth mindset and embrace collaboration and curriculum development within the goal of continuous improvement. Responsiveness to the value of including diverse texts and the infusion of technology is valued. A commitment to developing, selecting and modifying instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students should be part of the regular practice of the candidate. Preference will be given to candidates with co-teaching experience. A valid DESE certification in English 5-8 and an undergraduate degree in English are required. A Master's degree is preferred.
