Job Description
ELL Teacher Byron Center Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate 1.0 FTE ESL Teacher to join our instructional team beginning the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will provide high-quality English Language Development (ELD) instruction to Multilingual Learners (MLs) of varying proficiency levels. The ESL teacher works collaboratively with colleagues and administration to ensure that all students have equitable access to core content while developing linguistic proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Certification:
Valid Michigan Elementary or Secondary Teaching Certificate.Endorsement:
Must possess the English as a Second Language (NS) or Bilingual Education (YF) endorsement.Testing:
Successful completion of the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) in English as a Second Language.Language Skills:
Evidence of world language learning experience or proficiency is highly preferred.Relationships :
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents.Communication :
Skill in oral and written communication. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver evidence-based ELD instruction aligned with the WIDA English Language Development Standards Framework and Michigan State Standards. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the needs and interests of the students. Administer and interpret the WIDA ACCESS and WIDA Screener assessments to determine student eligibility and track annual progress. Training will be offered to candidates, as needed. Monitor student progress through the use of the PLC process. Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, colleagues, and administration to determine necessary skill practice and support. Serve as a bridge between the school and families, fostering a welcoming environment that values the cultural and linguistic assets of our community.
