N/A Provides Work Direction to : N/A Receives Work Direction from : Principal, President Primary Function (Purpose of Position): A DeLaSalle High School English teacher will have a strong background in English and American literature, a passion for education, and the ability to inspire high school students. This position involves fostering a positive learning environment across both 9th and 11th-grade courses. Through direct instruction and essay writing, the instructor will help students improve their grammar and mechanics while preparing them for college-level coursework.

Representative Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development:
Develop and implement an engaging and comprehensive lesson plans that align with state and national standards. Create lesson plans that use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students. Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance learning experiences. 2.
Student Assessment:
Evaluate and assess student work, providing constructive feedback to support their growth. Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth and understanding. Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress with students, parents, and school administration. 3.
Classroom Management:
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and active learning. Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a safe and productive learning atmosphere. Enforce classroom rules and expectations to create a respectful and productive learning atmosphere. 4.
Professional Development and Collaboration:
Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in English education and standards. Collaborate with colleagues to share resources, ideas, and strategies for improving student outcomes. Engage in school-wide initiatives and contribute to the overall mission and vision of the broader school community. 5.
Support and Guidance:
Provide academic support and guidance to students, including extra help sessions, tutoring, and career readiness. Encourage and support student involvement in extracurricular activities such as science clubs, fairs, and competitions.
Expected Job Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to work well with others. Ability to work with a diverse group of students and staff. Must be dependable and punctual. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Works in such a manner to provide positive and timely communication with students and parents while maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information. Ability to collaborate with and support other staff as directed. Manage multiple projects simultaneously with frequent interruptions. Perform all duties in a manner that promotes the mission of DeLaSalle High School. Attend all staff meetings as required. Able to work 40+ hours a week or whatever is required - including occasional weekend and evening work. Ability to lift and move using proper techniques up to and including 25 pounds.
