Job Description

We are seeking a caring, Christ-centered, and dependable English teacher/tutor to join our homeschool enrichment program. This role partners with homeschooling families by providing academic support, guided instruction, and encouragement within a faith-based learning environment. Position Overview English Teacher (Middle School & High School) The English Teacher will work with students in a small-group setting, providing instruction and academic support for both middle school English/Language Arts and high school English and Literature courses. The teacher will be provided with a curriculum to follow and will be responsible for delivering engaging, effective instruction that meets course objectives. In addition, the teacher will have the flexibility to select age-appropriate literature that aligns with Christian family values for classroom study and discussion.
Responsibilities include:
Teaching middle school English/Language Arts and high school English and Literature courses. Following the provided curriculum and lesson objectives. Selecting supplemental literature and reading materials appropriate for Christian families. Providing additional practice, reinforcement, and individualized support to students as needed. Assessing student progress and offering constructive feedback. Creating a positive, encouraging, and academically rigorous learning environment. Supporting the development of students' reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, critical thinking, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of English language arts and literature, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping students grow academically and personally within a Christian educational environment. This role is both instructional and relational—helping students grow academically while coming alongside parents in their homeschooling journey. Qualifications Experience teaching, tutoring, homeschooling, or working with middle school and/or high school students is preferred. Strong knowledge of English grammar, writing, literature, and reading comprehension. Ability to lead small-group instruction and adapt lessons to meet student needs. Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills. Alignment with Christian values and the ability to select literature appropriate for Christian families. A passion for helping students develop academically and personally. Degree not required; relevant teaching, tutoring, homeschooling, or educational experience is a plus. Schedule & Setting Part-time (Monday and Tuesdays) homeschool enrichment program In-person instruction with small group classes Collaborative partnership with homeschooling parents Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate loves children, values discipleship as part of education, and enjoys working closely with families in a homeschool setting. They are flexible, encouraging, and able to guide students through a variety of curriculum materials while keeping Christ at the center of learning.
