Throughout the year we accept applications for all teaching and staff positions. Humanities Teacher Our Academy is in search of a full-time Humanities Teacher, who will fulfill these responsibilities: Teach 7th and 8th grade Humanities, which entails an integrated approach to the following:
Literature:
Close reading of classic and historically significant texts.
History:
Study of major civilizations with emphasis on primary sources and understanding cause-and-effect in historical events.
Writing:
Instruction in structured writing, including essays, textual analysis, and clear, evidence-based argumentation.
Grammar and Language Skills:
Ongoing development of grammar, vocabulary, and mechanics to improve clarity and precision in writing.
Speaking and Discussion:
Guided Socratic discussion and oral presentations to build clear, logical, and articulate communication.
Cultural and Philosophical Foundations:
Exposure to foundational ideas in philosophy, ethics, and civic thought that shape Western civilization. Instruct with a keen awareness that virtue is the end of a good education. Seek to grow personally in and out of the classroom, and to therefore participate in ongoing professional development opportunities given by the Academy. Requirements Bachelor's degree Preferences Experience or lively interest in the early modern and modern periods Experience or familiarity with classical education B.A. or higher in the liberal arts, history, literature, philosophy or a related academic field The Academy does not discriminate on the basis of age, sex, marital status, physical or mental handicap, race, color, or national origin in its hiring, administration, or educational policies and practices.
