Job Description

English Language Arts Teacher (Grades 4 - 8) Position Purpose Under the general supervision of the School Director, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required; Masters preferred. New Jersey Standard Teaching Certification (CE,CEAS) with subject matter specialization: English Language Arts (for grades 4 & 5, NJ Certification (K - 6) with a Background and/or Strong Desire to teach English Language Arts. For grades 6-8, must hold a NJ Certification with
Subject Matter Specialization:
Language Arts or Teacher of English). Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation. Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles. Knowledge of grade specific school curriculum and concepts, including all subject matters taught. Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter school related matters. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work; parents, students and faculty etc. Prior to employment, the following must be addressed: Required to complete a criminal history background check to prove that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person's offense in accordance with

Essential Performance Responsibilities (The following description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility.) The English Language Arts teacher will: Essential Performance Responsibilities Manages middle school curriculum, fostering a safe, individualized learning environment. Develops and assesses lesson plans, adapting instruction for diverse student needs. Teaches responsible citizenship, maintains accurate records, and communicates with parents. Ensures student conduct aligns with school policy. Collaborates with staff on curriculum, manages classroom resources, supervises students, and administers standardized tests. Performs other related tasks as assigned by the School Director and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment :
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel Requirements:
