Duties Targeted Test Prep:
Prepare and deliver high-impact lessons explicitly focused on the SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) section and the SHSAT Verbal section (including advanced reading comprehension, grammar, and revising/editing strategies).
Data-Driven Instruction:
Assess student progress regularly through diagnostic testing, formative assessments, and practice exams; track score data to target individual weaknesses and adapt lessons accordingly.
Skill Building:
Conduct targeted tutoring and group sessions to build core analytical reading, essay writing, and critical thinking skills.
Classroom Management:
Manage classroom environments effectively, ensuring a focused, high-energy, and encouraging atmosphere that builds testing stamina and reduces exam anxiety.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices in standardized test strategies, curriculum development, and score-maximization techniques.
Skills Proven Test Prep Experience:
Demonstrated experience tutoring or teaching standardized test prep, with a strong, specific understanding of the SAT and SHSAT formats and question types.
Curriculum Mastery:
Strong knowledge of middle and high school English instruction, including deep familiarity with ELA standards and rubrics.
Analytical Expertise:
Exceptional ability to break down complex reading passages, tone analysis, vocabulary-in-context, and evidence-based writing mechanics into clear, actionable strategies.
Data Literacy:
Skilled in analyzing student score reports and practice test data to customize pacing and review sessions.
Communication & Engagement:
Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate, connect with, and build confidence in students aiming for competitive high school and college admissions.
Lesson Planning:
Proven ability to create structured, goal-oriented lesson plans that align with rigorous academic benchmarks and individual score targets.
