SHSAT Verbal Instructor Mr. Li's Learning Center New York, NY Job Details Part-time $50 - $100 an hour 1 hour ago Qualifications English writing skills instruction Tutoring Engaging lesson design (student motivation techniques) High school diploma or GED Reading comprehension strategies for test preparation Working with middle schoolers Adaptive test preparation strategies Classroom Teaching Teaching Full Job Description ...We are a tutoring center located in Lower Manhattan currently seeking a motivated and engaging instructor to teach the VERBAL section of our SHSAT prep classes. Our instructors are college/grad students, teachers, young professionals, and those looking to make a difference. We are looking for dedicated and experienced individuals who are passionate about helping students reach their full potential to join our team. Our student population consists of students from the top high schools and middle schools. Our students are placed in class sizes depending on their levels to ensure they are learning the most during their class time. Our class sizes ranges from 6 to 22 students. Please apply if you are an expert in matters regarding standardized admissions tests and college admissions matters including but not limited to:-SAT-PSAT-SHSAT-College admissions essay Duties and responsibilities: Instruct classes of up to 30 students in SHSAT verbal material Prepare for classes well before the beginning of each class Be able to explain all questions in homeworks and classworks Have other productive activities and/or lessons planned Minimum requirements: Mastery of verbal section subjects (reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, writing, etc.) A score of ~750 on a sample SAT test taken on site High school graduate currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree The ideal candidate: Has a Bachelor's degree Is able to motivate students to achieve beyond what is required to bring out the best in each student Will brainstorm ways to engage our students in rigorous and meaningful inquiry Is a fast learner Has strong organization, communication, listening, and problem solving skills
