Job summary: Bishop Ludden-Grimes Jr./Sr. High School is seeking a passionate, dedicated and faith-filled English Language Arts Teacher to join our faculty. We need an educator who can navigate the demands of a Catholic college preparatory private school. Fostering a deep love for literature, critical thinking and effective communication are essential for this position. The ideal candidate will deliver a rigorous, standards-based curriculum that prepares students for high school honors and college-preparatory tracks, all while seamlessly integrating Catholic values, ethics and teachings into daily classroom experience.
Responsibilities:
- Teach English courses required by the New York State Education Department in accordance with diocesan and school curriculum guidelines
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that foster critical thinking, analyzation of literature and teach reading skills using a variety of genres, emphasizing themes, character development and historical context
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs of students
- Assess student learning through various methods including tests, essays, projects and presentations
- Integrate Catholic doctrine and tradition into classroom instruction
- Exhibit the ability to work with other faculty members and staff in a positive manner
- Provide students with guidance on service projects, writing assignments and research projects
- Provide a culture of learning, discipline and a positive atmosphere in your classes and our school
Qualifications:
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church (preferred)
- Bachelor's Degree in English Language Arts or related field (Master's preferred)
- Teaching experience at the middle school or high school level (preferred)
- A strong passion and zeal for English and Evangelization
- Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills
- Flexible, adaptable with the ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff and parents
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission of Catholic education
- Professional, positive, and collaborative attitude
Salary:
