Full Job Description Summary:
The EL Assistant will work at Earl Harris Elementary School on a full-time basis. This individual will be responsible for assisting English Language Learners (ELLs) in their academic and language development. The EL Assistant will work closely with the school's EL teacher and other staff members to ensure that ELLs receive the support they need to succeed.
Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one and small group instruction to ELLs in various subjects, including reading, writing, and math Support the school's EL teacher in developing and implementing lesson plans and activities that meet the needs of ELLs Help ELLs understand and complete classroom assignments and assessments Monitor and track the progress of ELLs and provide regular updates to the EL teacher and other staff members Assist with translating and interpreting for ELLs and their families as needed Collaborate with other staff members to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for ELLs and their families Attend professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date on best practices for working with
ELLs Requirements:
Fluency in English and at least one other language is preferred but not required Experience working with ELLs in an educational setting Experience in letter sounds, reading or phonics preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment Must pass a background check and drug test
