Alternative Education Teacher - High School English Deer Creek Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and student-centered educator to serve as an Alternative Education Teacher with certification in High School English . This position works with students in a non-traditional setting, supporting academic progress, credit recovery, and positive behavioral growth. Qualifications Valid Oklahoma certification in Secondary English (High School) Experience in an alternative education setting preferred Experience with Edgenuity or similar online learning platforms preferred Demonstrated ability to manage multiple course preparations (preps) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Commitment to working with at-risk and diverse student populations Understanding of trauma-informed instructional practices Ability to implement behavior intervention strategies (PBIS or similar frameworks) Skill in differentiating instruction to meet individual student needs Experience supporting students with IEPs and 504 accommodations Familiarity with credit recovery models and non-traditional instructional pacing Ability to use data to inform instruction and monitor student progress Strong classroom management, de-escalation, and conflict resolution skills Effective use of instructional technology to enhance learning Ability to develop and support individualized learning plans Professional Dispositions Demonstrates a high level of collaboration and teamwork Strong communication skills with students, families, and colleagues Flexible, organized, and able to adapt in a dynamic learning environment Passionate about helping students overcome barriers and achieve successSimilar jobs in Edmond, OK
