Job Description

High School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher The Environmental Charter School is seeking highly dedicated and motivated individuals for our school. OVERVIEW
The ECS English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher has strong teaching abilities, an understanding of pedagogy and instructional practices in secondary education, and a strong interest in environmental studies. The ELA Teacher works in a highly collaborative environment and makes deep connections with students. Additionally, the ELA Teacher works closely with his/her grade level team, instructional coaches, and Principal. Candidates should be energetic and progressive-minded, with a willingness to work collaboratively with grade-level and vertical teams. Key Responsibilities Work with the Environmental Charter School's scope and sequence to create purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that employ a variety of teaching strategies, provide meaningful instruction, and maximize time on task Structure compelling, standards-based lessons that challenge students' critical thinking and align with lesson, unit, and grade-level objectives Regularly evaluate student progress using a variety of assessment methods, including standardized assessments, teacher-designed tests, and samples of student work Utilize the Google platform for document development Support the development of the 1:1 device implementation for students, including instructing digital citizenship Communicate regularly with families to share academic progress and develop a supportive home-school relationship Fully participate in opportunities for professional growth, collaboration with other program directors, and outside professional opportunities Educational Background and Work Experience Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution PA English 7-12 certification Prior teaching experience at the secondary level preferred Familiarity with charter schools Compensation & Benefits Minimum starting salary of $44,716 up to a maximum starting salary of $51,056, dependent upon prior years' teaching experience.
