The Central Falls School District seeks to hire a talented, knowledgeable, and highly innovative certified educator to fill the ELA position at Dr. Earl F. collective bargaining agreement policies and procedures. Guided by the District's Strategic Plan, we strive to prepare all students for success!GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES /DUTIES
Implements a compelling vision of the English Language Arts curriculum, teaching, and learning standards and practices that align with the English Language Arts Common Core Standards and will result in college and career readiness for each student. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and respect for diverse perspectives. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to meet the diverse learning needs of all students, including MLLs and students with IEPs or 504 students. Implements English Language Arts curricula, instructional practices, and culturally competent assessments that align with WIDA, English Language Arts Common Core Standards, and research-based practices for language learning. Collaborate effectively with special education staff, ESL teachers, counselors, and other support personnel to ensure student success. Assess student learning through varied methods, providing timely and constructive feedback to students and families. Monitor student progress, analyze data, and adjust instruction to meet individual and group needs. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians via phone, email, and/or conferences regarding student progress and learning. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and knowledge of best practices in supporting MLL and IEP students. Develop detailed behavior and classroom management plans to address individual students' needs. Collaborate with students, families, and educational teams to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with Federal and State Regulations as a general educator. Incorporates ELLs' backgrounds and experiences to improve performance by using various techniques to ensure content concepts are comprehensible. Incorporate a student's background in the lesson plan and understand how to linguistically make connections with prior native language development. Establish two-way communication to engage parents/guardians as critical partners before, during, and after the team process. Utilize instructional materials that coordinate with district curricula to implement instruction that addresses students' goals and language needs while providing access to grade-level content. Maintain a positive learning environment that promotes the academic, social, and personal well-being of all students. Develop and implement classroom and curricular accommodations and modifications for students, including language development adaptations for MLLs. Cooperatively plan and teach with other educators. Assess progress, maintain documentation, monitor student learning/progress, and report as specified in the plan (MTSS, 504 Plans, IEP, etc.). Follow all RIDE regulations related to ELL, and/or Students with Disabilities, including determining if, MLLs with disabilities are eligible to continue as MLL or to exit from their MLL status, completing, and distributing all related paperwork. Consistently practice a growth mindset, demonstrating a strong class culture and using feedback to reflect and set goals. Cultivates stewardship of collaborative learning and leadership in and out of the classroom, integrating tools, strategies, and suggestions based on BPL to distribute knowledge and expertise skillfully to empower and engage colleagues and students.
