Automotive Technology Instructor - SY 2026-2027 Forney
Category=Teaching+-+High+School⊂category=Automotive+Technology+Instructor Education / Certification Associate degree or higher in Automotive Technology or related field preferred Three years of non teaching, work-related experience. ASE certification(s) required Special Knowledge / Skills Knowledge of subjects/programs assigned Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Knowledge of industry related software OEM or equivalent industry-related training Ability to align curriculum to industry certification exams Ability to market program to students, staff, parents, and community through Social Media and various platforms Strong organizational, marketing, communication and interpersonal skills Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment Experience One year of teaching experience. Responsibilities Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required Apply practical knowledge of skills instruction, with the specific purpose of preparing and inserting students into the workplace. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned Develops appropriate course syllabi and instructional plans Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula/instruction as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP) Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing Performs student advisement such that students are provided with timely, accurate, and comprehensive information regarding career choices, career preparations, job opportunities, and other needed occupational information. Be a positive role model for students, support the mission of the school district Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook Maintain an instructional environment with emphasis on safety, equipment security, and ensure opportunities for student/participant evaluation. Promote and work with the CTE Administrators at the campus to increase interest and enrollment in the Automotive program. Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills Keep informed of and comply with laws as well as district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required Maintain confidentiality Participate in staff development, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned Utilizing all resources available to innovate and to change to meet evolving program and industry needs Perform other duties as assigned Environment / Working Conditions Mental demands/physical demands/environmental factors Maintain emotional control under stress Lifting and moving materials, books, boxes, etc. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing The foregoing statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required.
