Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by supporting students with visual impairments in a full-time contract opportunity as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. This rewarding position is located near Plano, TX, and is ideal for dedicated educators passionate about fostering independence and learning for children who are visually impaired.
What You Bring:
Valid Texas teaching license for the visually impaired. Previous experience working as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in school settings preferred. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work alongside students, families, teachers, and support staff. Commitment to individualized instruction and accessibility.
Your Day-to-Day:
Develop and adapt curriculum and instructional materials in collaboration with classroom teachers to meet the needs of students with visual impairments. Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, assistive technology, and other specialized skills. Conduct functional vision assessments and help determine appropriate accommodations. Advocate for students' needs and ensure compliance with all relevant educational plans and regulations. Serve as a resource to school staff and families regarding visual impairment best practices and support.
