Jul 1, 2026 Job Description The ELL Coach will assist ELL teachers, building administrators and support staff to improve student achievement in the language acquisition, language proficiency and to promote the academic success of ELL students. The ELL Coach will provide job-embedded professional development, support with research-based methodologies of English Language learning and instruction, and technical support to Professional Learning Communities and other school staff in implementing instruction and tiered intervention to assist English Language Learners in academic success.
Essential Job Functions:
Observes and provides feedback to teachers regarding instruction, student engagement, and classroom environment. Models ELL instruction for classroom teachers. Assists School Administration with the observation process to assist school staff with effective instruction for ELLs and differentiated instruction. Assesses school needs for professional learning based on ELL language proficiency development, social development, and academic achievement. Facilitates ELL related staff development; supports and develops new ELL teachers through leading the New ELL Teacher Cohort. Facilitates skill in collaboration, English language acquisition/proficiency instruction, and the analysis of data to improve student success. Facilitates the analysis of student assessment data and uses the results to design and coordinate appropriate intervention strategies. Participates in professional learning communities, data teams, and teacher collaboration Demonstrates leadership and facilitate professional development Facilitates discussions on the use, implementation and interpretation of summative, formative, screening, diagnostic, and progress monitoring assessments. Maintains a record of appropriate attendance and punctuality. Serves as an optimal role model for students, colleagues, and the general public. Education and Experience:
Required Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Currently possesses or ability to possess a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License within an endorsement in ESOL. Three (3) years of successful, full-time, teaching experience, specially with English Language Learners at the elementary school level. Preferred Knowledge of the Virginia Literacy Act. SIOP and/or 7 Step Trained. Knowledge of the WIDA Framework (2020) and WIDA Language Charts. Integration of the Virginia Standards Satchel into instruction.

Employment Terms:
Employment may be offered as a 12-month (240 Day) position. Additional compensation is awarded for credits earned toward advanced degrees.
