04/28/2026 POSITION SUMMARY The primary responsibility of the ELL teacher is to develop, implement, and maintain a standards-aligned, comprehensive ELL program that will benefit each student served while also providing leadership and guidance to the school staff in supporting students who receive ELL services. The ELL teacher will serve as a liaison between school/division personnel, the ELL student, and the family.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Demonstrates long-range planning and knowledge of the student need in relation to English language acquisition. Completes daily written lesson plans which fulfill learning objectives consistent with LCS' curricula and SOLs. Facilitates communication between the ELL student and others in the educational environment. Plans for individual student differences. Works to achieve division/school/department objectives. Utilizes a variety of teaching methods. Supports the classroom teacher in adjust the instruction and pacing of delivery, when necessary, in order to better meet student's communication needs and support achievement of instructional goals Regularly communicates with the classroom teacher and other personnel who support students receiving EL services. Communicates objective(s) and purpose(s) of lesson. Utilizes various forms of technology to assist in the delivery of instruction. Provides opportunities for student responses and gives appropriate feedback to students. Utilizes effective motivational strategies. Paces instruction to provide opportunities for student success. Delivers curriculum and instruction in accordance with school division guidelines. Sets, communicates and maintains high standards for responsible student behavior. Plans for and makes effective use of time, materials, and resources. Organizes students for effective instruction. Demonstrates respect, consideration and courtesy. Cooperates with other teachers to exchange ideas. Accepts and/or offers constructive suggestions in a professional manner. Maintains a learning environment that contributes to a positive school climate. Provides opportunities for success for all students. Maintains accurate records measuring student achievement. Presents data/artifacts demonstrating student growth. Implements appropriate EL testing within the designated timelines. Analyzes test scores to establish and revise academic goals to provide instruction at the appropriate level. Adheres to board and school policies. Maintains professionalism during stressful situations. Communicates with parents, students, staff and community in a professional manner. Facilitates communication between the family of the EL student and others in the educational environment. Maintain confidentiality. Accepts and fulfills additional responsibilities designated by the principal.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Candidate must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License with an endorsement in English as a Second Language PK-12.

Candidate must possess leadership and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, parents, and staff.
