Location:

Champlain Valley School District (CVSD) is seeking a part-time (0.5 FTE) dedicated and collaborative Multilingual Learner Teacher to join our Williston Schools team starting FY27. We are looking for a professional who is passionate about developing instructional programs and providing direct support to students eligible for Multilingual Learner (ML) services. The ideal candidate will ensure a safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environment that meets the unique educational and cultural needs of every student. Primary Responsibilities Develop and deliver ML services based on student needs, program goals, and classroom curricula. Implement procedures for identification, screening, and monitoring of student progress, including the administration of the
WIDA-ACCESS
test. Provide direct instruction in Basic Interpersonal Communication Skills (BICS) and Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency (CALP). Partner with classroom teachers to adapt instruction and materials, ensuring students are integrated both socially and academically. Promote the involvement of diverse parents in the school experience and support home-school communication through interpretation and translation services. Maintain accurate records documenting student progress, assessment data, and instructional recommendations. The Ideal Candidate Will Possess Current Vermont Professional Educator's License with the appropriate endorsement for the assignment. A Bachelor's degree in education plus three years of relevant experience, or a comparable combination of education and skills. Knowledge of current theories in first and second language acquisition across diverse developmental levels. The ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and families, as well as the ability to interpret technical instructions and data. A commitment to advocating for parental voice and the meaningful inclusion of all multilingual learners in the general education environment. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain composure in high-stress situations.
