The Multilingual Specialist Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) is a dedicated and experienced educator that will coordinate the district Multilingual Services. This position is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the educational experience for multilingual students across the district. The Multilingual TOSA will collaborate closely with teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure that all multilingual students receive designated and integrated English Language Development ensuring equitable access to education and support services.QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Washington State Teacher certificate and English Language Learner endorsement. Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of language acquisition. Have experience, knowledge, and skill working with English Language Development standards. Deep level of understanding in evidence-based strategies, progress monitoring, and assessments for English Language Development. Understand assessment results and use results to drive instruction that demonstrates and proves high levels of student growth and development specifically in the area of English language development. Have a track record of being a flexible team player, student focused, and community minded. Understanding of appropriate local and state standards. Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff and district patrons. Evidence/demonstration of use of technology to enhance student learning or willingness to learn. Demonstrated organizational skills and commitment to follow through on tasks. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with students, teachers, school administrators, support personnel, and community members. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Develop and implement comprehensive plans to support the academic and linguistic needs of multilingual students. Collaborate with school principals, teachers, and support staff to implement effective instructional strategies and programs. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of multilingual services and make adjustments as necessary. Develop and provide lesson plans that incorporate best practices for teaching multilingual students. Provide guidance and support to paraeducators and instructional aides working with multilingual students, ensuring alignment with educational goals and standards. Ensure that all educational programs and services for multilingual students comply with district policies, state regulations, and federal laws. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to multilingual services and student progress. Analyze assessment data to assess the academic progress and language proficiency of multilingual students. Use data-driven insights to develop recommendations for instructional improvements and interventions. Other duties as assigned.
