The Department of American Culture and Society at the University of Alabama is searching to fill three fulltime renewable contract instructor positions with a start date of August of 2026.

The Department of American Culture and Society at the University of Alabama is searching to fill three fulltime teaching faculty positions with a start date of August of 2026.
The Department of American Culture and Society offers courses in the MA program in Women's Studies, undergraduate major programs in both African American Studies and American Studies, and minor programs in African American Studies, American Studies, Sociology, and Women's Studies. More than 5000 students take classes in the Department each semester. There are 23 faculty in the Department.
We are particularly interested in candidates with a terminal degree in one of the disciplines of the four programs in the Department. A normal teaching load for these positions also includes Departmental service.
The positions are benefits eligible, and are initially hired on a one-year renewable contract. Applicants should complete the online application at ua.edu. Minimum Qualifications
Candidate must have a terminal degree, a JD, PhD, or MFA.
Successful applicants will have demonstrated teaching experience in courses in any of the disciplines within the Department.
ABD candidates will be considered but must have completed the requirements for the PhD prior to starting the position.
