Physics and Astronomy Description:
The Homer L. Dodge Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for an Unranked Renewable Term faculty position focused on teaching. To meet the needs of the department, we seek an experienced educator with a passion for teaching to join the school's faculty in an unranked renewable term appointment as Instructor (completed M.S.) or Lecturer (completed Ph.D.) in August 2026. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success instructing undergraduate students, especially in introductory physics and astronomy courses. The candidate will have an in-load of 4:4 or equivalent and will be expected to participate in intramural and extramural service. The University of Oklahoma is a Carnegie-R1 comprehensive public research university known for excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement, serving the educational, cultural, economic and health-care needs of the state, region, and nation from three campuses. The University of Oklahoma enrolls over 30,000 students and has more than 2700 full-time faculty members in 21 colleges. Norman is a vibrant university town of around 130,000 inhabitants with a growing entertainment and art scene. With outstanding schools, amenities, and a low cost of living, Norman is a perennial contender on "best place to live" rankings. Within an easy commute, Oklahoma City features a dynamic economy and outstanding cultural venues adding to the region's growing appeal.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess an M.S. or Ph.D. in physics or astronomy, or a related discipline at the time of appointment and possess a record of experience indicating high potential for teaching excellence at the University of Oklahoma.
