Job Description

Talentnook is seeking fun-loving and energetic Assistant Instructors to support our engaging Nature Navigator after-school enrichment classes for elementary students in Grades 1-5. The ideal candidate is passionate about environmental education, STEM learning, and working with children. Assistant Instructors will help students explore exciting nature concepts such as ecosystems, habitats, food chains, and adaptations through hands-on activities, role play, movement-based learning, and creative challenges. Lesson plans and curriculum materials will be provided. Key Responsibilities Assist in delivering engaging nature and environmental science lessons to elementary students in Grades 1-5. Support students during hands-on STEM activities, games, experiments, and team projects. Help simplify science and environmental concepts using playful and interactive teaching methods. Encourage student participation, teamwork, creativity, and curiosity throughout the class. Assist in creating a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment. Support classroom setup, activity preparation, and student dismissal procedures. Reinforce positive behavior and help students build confidence through encouragement and guidance. Coordinate effectively with lead instructors and the operations team. Required Qualifications Fun, engaging, and energetic personality with the ability to motivate and build trust with elementary students. Experience supporting or teaching hands-on STEM, science, or environmental learning activities. Basic understanding of environmental and nature-based concepts. Creativity and enthusiasm to inspire curiosity, innovation, and environmental awareness in young learners. Ability to encourage students to ask questions, think critically, and collaborate with peers. Patience, empathy, and adaptability to support students with different learning styles and age groups. Strong communication and organizational skills to help lessons stay structured and engaging. Ability to create interactive and enjoyable learning experiences. Effective classroom management skills for groups of up to 20 students. At least 1 year of experience working with elementary-aged children. Minimum of 2 years of college education preferred. Ability to pass background checks and TB testing requirements. Reliable transportation to commute to school sites in Pinole. Ability to occasionally lift and carry approximately 20-50 lbs. with or without accommodations.
Schedule & Commitment Dates:
Summer 2026 (specific weeks discussed during interview)

Friday Time:
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM (3-hour camp) Includes setup, preparation, and student dismissal Compensation $25-$32 per hour
Assistant Instructor:
3.5 hours of pay per 3-hour camp session (includes setup and cleanup support) High School and College students are welcome to apply for the Assistant Instructor post Compensation -
High School Student :
$20 per hour -
College Student :
$20-22 per hour
