Department Dean's Office - Institute for Biomedical Sciences College Institute for Biomedical Sciences Campus Atlanta Position Type Full Time Faculty Posting Type Internal/External About the Department The Institute for Biomedical Sciences is a multidisciplinary research and education institute. The Institute performs cutting-edge biomedical research focused on advancing human health and provides interdisciplinary training for the next generation of biomedical scientists and professionals. Position Description The primary responsibilities are to instruct courses during the academic year, with the possibility to teach summer classes. The position will also entail oversight of internships and honors courses. Curricular development and service activities are also anticipated. Required Experience Two years of related teaching experience in higher education. Required Education Ph.D. in field related to biomedical sciences at the time of appointment. Preferred Qualifications/Experience
  • College teaching experience. Two years is preferred and can include experience as a teaching assistant at a college or university.
  • Experience teaching online asynchronous and/or synchronous and proficiency using a distance learning platform.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in high-impact educational practices, scholarship of teaching and learning, building college-to-career linkages, and/or other pedagogical initiatives that enhance student success.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in scholarship in the discipline and/or scholarship of teaching and learning.
  • Undergraduate research supervision. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods with a demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology.
  • Ability to create a sense of belonging for a varied student population and facilitate student learning in both the in-person and virtual learning environments.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and computer skills (able to maintain appropriate records).
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues to achieve discipline, department, or college goals.
  • Ability to teach a variety of biology and environmental science courses offered by the department.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and adhere to deadlines.
