STEM Teacher

The STEM assistant will help to further enhance the school environment in that it celebrates an open ended culture of creativity, innovation, and experimentation; melding the diverse disciplines of math, science, art, craft, engineering, design, architecture and more. Using the engineering design process, the STEM assistant will assist, support and encourage students as they learn new skills for developing ideas, experiencing success and failure, and making things in a highly collaborative setting. Collaborate with Digital Learning Coaches and Instructional Facilitators to develop appropriate and interesting curriculum for the elementary school student. STEM activities will follow the science and engineering practices outlined in the NCSCOS and include multiple opportunities for English Learners to collaborate with their peers and develop their academic language. Collaborate with K-5 classroom teachers to coordinate STEM experiences with classroom-based instruction and integrate cross-curricular lesson extensions that can be taken back to the classroom. Model, foster and inspire a growth mindset within the classroom. Deliver instruction and guide K-5 students while in the STEM classroom. Research, develop and innovate maker activities Inventory and maintain all STEM materials, tools and equipment, including hardware and software. Maintain a safe and efficient learning environment Technical support of project documentation (video, photo, blog/vlog, digital portfolio, social media) Host STEM Family events in collaboration with Family Engagement Specialists and Digital Learning Coaches Other responsibilities as needed
